This black list has existed for years although the thing of major concern is that the government now wants to expand it and sensor the internet as much as it can get away with. They want to expand the blacklist to include any website they don't feel is appropriate but where do you draw the line? In theory blocking illegal sites is alright but the governments going beyond that and blocking legal and illegal sites. It’s not a big leap from blocking gambling and child porn sites to censoring websites that don't tow the government line. If it goes ahead, it’s a big blow to freedom of speech. I’ve heard that there are sites from a travel agent a dentists and even the Wikipedia on that list.
Where’s it end? Suppose from their point of view its great don't like people knowing that just block it from them. Also in this post is a form you can fill out to sign the Getup Australia partition against the government’s censorship.
